Dental implants are by far and away the most successful, esthetic and functional way to replace either a single tooth or many missing teeth.  Patients with dentures can now literally replace all of their missing teeth with implants or have partial dentures firmly held in place with a few well placed implants.  The implant itself is a very biocompatible titanium insert that is placed under the gum.  The bone firmly locks into place by growing around it and after which a post and crown is placed.
