Dr. Gouin established Arrowhead Dental Associates in 1978 after graduation from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island in the field of Microbiology and Chemistry. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Rhode Island Dental Association, and the local South County Dental Society. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Gouin is committed to improving his skill and level of patient care through continued education and was awarded the Academy’s fellow status in July of 1998. Dr. Gouin is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Gouin is married to Dr. Christine Benoit and has lived here in Charlestown since 1978. They have two children, Annick and Brendan. Dr. Gouin enjoys mountaineering, tennis, landscaping, and sportfishing. He participates often with Dentists’ Climb for a Cause, a group that climbs different mountains to raise charitable donations for worthy causes.
Dr. Benoit strives to help patients enjoy oral health throughout their lifetime. Dr. Benoit received her DMD degree from the renowned Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1977. She is a 1974 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. in Zoology.
Dr. Benoit was president of the Rhode Island Dental Association in 2002-2003 and served on their Board as an Officer and/or Trustee for ten years until 2004. Dr. Benoit was a delegate to the American Dental Association. Dr. Benoit presently serves on several Boards, Committees, and Councils for the Rhode Island Dental Association and the State of Rhode Island.
Dr. Benoit serves as the Regent for The International College of Dentists, District One, the New England states. Dr. Benoit is the proud recipient of numerous awards including the Woman of the Year Award from the state of Rhode Island in 2004.
Dr. Benoit is a member of the American Dental Association, the Rhode Island Dental Association, the South County Dental Society, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Academy of Oral Medicine, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Association of Dental Examiners, the Northeast Regional Board, the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine M. Club Executive Committee, the University of Rhode Island Alumni Association and Fast Break Club, the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, and several other organizations.
For enjoyment, Dr. Benoit enjoys time with her family: husband Dr. Bruce Gouin, son, Brendan, daughter, Annick; mother, Connie; and sister, Emilie. Her hobbies and interests include walking, tennis, gardening, fishponds, and theater.
Dr. Richard Walsh has been a general dentist with Arrowhead Dental Associates since 1986. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Northwestern University School of Dentistry, he served as a dentist in the United States Public Health Service in an Appalachian community for four years before locating to Rhode Island.
Dr. Walsh has been very involved in organized dentistry, serving as president of the South County Dental Society and the Rhode Island Dental Association.. He is also the RI Section Chair and Trustee of the Northeast United States Region of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international dental honor organization.
Dr. Walsh has two children, Robert and Abigail, who are both in college. A resident of Charlestown with his wife Lisa, Dr. Walsh is active in local sports programs and has coached youth basketball and youth and high school lacrosse for several years. He was the President of South County Youth Lacrosse and the Rhode Island Chapter of USLacrosse and only recently retired as a player himself. He also enjoys woodworking, golf, and several other outdoor activities.
Dr. Stefano joined Arrowhead Dental Associates in July of 2003. She has built a strong following of patients who appreciate her gentle, dental skills and love to schedule their treatment with her. She is a wonderful complement to our existing dental team.
Dr. Stefano received her doctoral degree from the University of Bucharest in Romania in 1991. She worked in Europe practicing dentistry for seven years before coming to the United States. Dr. Stefano then attended New York University College of Dentistry where she received a D.D.S. degree and graduated with honors. She also completed a Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Stefano was elected by Omega Chapter to Alumni Membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Honor Dental Society in May 2002. She is also a member of the South County Dental Society, the Rhode Island Dental Association (RIDA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the American Dental Association (ADA).
Dr. Stefano lives with her husband in North Kingstown. She loves Rhode Island and especially enjoys the summertime here in South County. When she has some free time and is not seeing patients, she likes to work in her garden or go to the beach. Dr. Stefano’s number one goal is to have each and every patient have a smooth and pleasurable experience in the dental office, always walking away with a great smile!
Dr. Brendan Gouin graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from the
University of Rhode Island in 2005. Dr. Brendan then received his D.M.D. from
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2009. While at Tufts, Dr. Brendan
was a teaching assistant in Oral Maxillofacial Radiology. He participated in
dental internships at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and the Norwood
Dental Clinic for Special Needs. He also is a member of Dentists' Climb for a
Cause, a group that climbs mountains to raise donations for dental charities.
Dr. Brendan was offered a teaching position as an Associate Professor of Oral
and Maxilliofacial Radiology and will begin part time in the Spring of 2010. Dr.
Brendan is a member of the American Dental Association, the Rhode Island Dental
Association, and the South County Dental Society.
In his free time Dr. Brendan enjoys being outdoors and is passionate about
snowboarding and surfing. He also enjoys free diving, art, playing tennis,
trampoline gymnastics, and bicycling.
